Exciting Things Are Happening in Room 116!

It was great to be back together again after the Fall Break!  All of the students had enthusiastic experiences to share during our Morning Meeting on Monday. The students have also used the fun they had with their families as inspiration for their writing homework assignment.  I look forward to reading about their adventures!

Our Rainbow Friendship Fish!

We really enjoyed reading, The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister.  We had a great discussion about the importance of being a good friend.

We then brainstormed a list of  qualities that we thought made someone a good friend.  The students then wrote about what friendship means to them and created their own Rainbow Fish!

We have had so much fun learning about friendship and here is a picture of their amazing  Rainbow Friendship Fish!

We Love When Mr. B Comes to Visit Us!

Mr. B brought in his new ukulele to play for us and we sang along with him to the song, "On Top of Spaghetti".  We had a wonderful time with him and loved hearing the story that went along with the song!

Halloween Parent Letter

Dear First Grade Families,

It’s hard to believe, but Halloween will be here before we know it and we have lots of fun things to look forward to!

Our class will be participating in the K-2 Halloween Costume Parade on Wednesday, October 31st at 1:15.  The parade will begin at the school and we will walk across the street through Melrose Terrace.  If your child would like to take part in the Halloween Parade, please make sure to send them to school with their costume in their bag, to change into before the parade.  We are asking that no child come to school in their costume, as it would be too distracting for them to wear throughout our school day.  We would love to have parent volunteers join us to help march the students in the parade.  Please let me know if you would like to help chaperone!

October is Off to a Spectacular Start!

We kicked off last week with a spirited NECAP Pep Rally with the whole school in attendance.  It was wonderful to see how excited all of the students were about the NECAP tests and as always, we loved the NECAP Cheerleaders!  Our students were very proud of the NECAP signs that they made to show the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders our support!  We even all danced to the Waka Waka; it was so much fun!  Ask your child to tell you all about the Pep Rally and what they enjoyed the most!
