Maple Sugaring Field Trip at Lilac Ridge Farm!

As part of our States of Matter Science Unit, we went on a Field Trip to Lilac Ridge Farm to learn about the maple sugaring process.  We had such a wonderful time at the farm and would like to thank the following people from Lilac Ridge for making our field trip such a great success:  Farmer Amanda, Farmer Maive, Grandma Farmer, and Grandpa Farmer.  Of course we also need to thank Maggie the dog for being such a sweetheart to all of us as well!  Our Chaperones were also fantastic and we would like to thank the following people for coming with us:  Tabby, Anne, Allegra, Dan, Bob, Wes, Mary, and Mrs. Palmeri.  We had such a fun time with all of you and loved learning about how Maple Sugaring goes through all three phases of matter - solid, liquid, and gas!  Please enjoy the pictures from the trip and don't forget to ask your child all about it!

We can't wait to have more of the delicious maple syrup when we do our Pancake Science Experiment next week!

I'm so lucky to teach First Grade!

St. Patrick's Day is one of my family's favorite holidays, so I thought I would share the joy that the holiday brings me with my students!  Here are some pictures from our day and we hope you enjoy them!

The St. Patrick's Day Treat Bags I made for my students and the teachers who work in my classroom!

St. Patrick's Day Healthy Snack...rainbow fruit kabobs!

 The students loved them!

We also did a Lucky Charms Graphing Activity and had fun eating our data when we finished!

Cooper had some too for being such a great snack helper!

They all worked hard on their graphs!

The students also wrote about Who Means More To Them Than Gold during writing time.

We even did a craft activity to go along with their writing!  Check out how cute their Rainbows with Pots of Gold came out!

Spreading our cheer to the hallway!

The students also had a blast during Math!  They all did an excellent job with the Skittles Taste the Rainbow Math Activity!

The students also solved the Leprechaun Addition and Subtraction Tens Facts and were all smiles at the end of the day!

We had a wonderful Fun Friday together!  I'm so lucky to have such fantastic First Graders!
